A rose by any other name …

You put the grass in…
You mow the grass down…
You take the grass out…
To put some flowers all about…
That’s what it’s all about

You make a garden plan..
You change the garden plan…
You put some flowers out…
And you take a look about…
That’s what it’s all about!

You put the trowel in…
You take the trowel out…
You put a plant in…
And you do it all again..
That’s what it’s all about!

You take some plants out…
You put some more plant in…
You move some plants about…
And you throw the plan right out…
That’s what it’s all about..

You see a bloom here…
You see a butterfly there…
You see a bee in flight…
And you feel such delight…
That’s what it’s all about!

One of my favorite new plants in the garden are my roses
Yellow ,Red, Orange ,violet blues
What bright and cheerful colors.

Everytime I could even see them surrounded and covered with bees and butterflies. Winters are perfect for long bloom season in cooler climates. Some people do gardening because they wish to raise plants of great rarity, some do it because they want a lawn as smooth and blemish free as the coat of an otter.  Perhaps they garden just to impress the neighbours with their expertise or in order to make sure their families eat vegetables unsullied by nitrates and pesticides. Gardening is the pleasure of allowing some things to grow, spending time chatting with plants. The purpose of gardening is to make people happy: not just the gardeners but those who enjoy the things they create. Usually every morning we make the rounds in my garden, noting the changes, and celebrating the blooms. We spent most of our time sitting in the garden doing gardening with a blissful  morning tea. A beautiful bud when opens up … I can’t express my happiness. It is the priceless gift of our hard work these plants gives us, I wanted to give a big hug in return.
Once I found someone stole my big lovely pink rose and I was very upset. Later, I found the culprit was my milkman. Plucking flowers without I noticing, disheartened me and I lost my faith on him. People should respect others hard work and appreciate the blossoms. Without informing plucking of flowers is like stabbing in the back.
The secret of successful gardening? That I cannot tell you but if you are enjoying yourself then you are very close to finding it out for yourself. I’m seeing my garden through fresh eyes.  I want to be proud of my garden.
As I worked, my heart gladdened.  And I saw the beauty in my garden.  It may not be the most beautiful garden in the world, but it makes me happy.  Very happy.

Suddenly, I am …
Satisfied.  Joyful.  Content.

Mother Nature is the ultimate designer. We can never top her!
Do you feel this way about your garden sometimes?  I hope so.
